Construction Training Fund with exhibits for the new Construction Futures Centre

EMCO Building was pleased to assist the BCITF by providing access to our Challenger TAFE project in Murdoch for the production of onsite video interviews featuring individuals working in the construction industry highlight the range of career pathways, the rewards and the scope the industry offers to a young person entering the industry.

The videos will be used as part of the display within the new Construction Futures Centre located in Belmont. The centre, opening in early 2018, will be a hub for school students from year 5 to 12 to visit and get a hands-on experience of the construction industry through purpose built, state-of-the-art exhibits – the ‘SciTech’ for Construction.

It is hoped that the videos, using real people with real stories, will resonate with the students and let them see that this could be their future.

EMCO ON CHANNEL 9

Keep an eye on Channel 9 News this weekend for the interview with EMCO Building CEO Ron Keogh & Handle Property Group Managing Director Peter Burke. The interview was taken at our completed Bottleyard project and focuses on the history of the site as well as the Photo Voltaic array (solar energy) which is one of the largest in the southern hemisphere.

Mindfulness

The physical and mental health of our staff is important to us and as part of our ongoing commitment to ensuring that the team puts health before work we have programmed in a number of ‘mindfulness’ seminars for the team.

In the first of the programme a group of EMCO employees attended a 90-minute stress meditation/mindfulness workshop at our recently completed Claremont Football Club project.

The seminar was run by Eric Harrison from the Perth Meditation Centre.

Mindfulness is about being able to relax quickly, whenever you need to, and being able to control thought and attention. The aim is to shed accumulating muscle tension and allow the mind to calm down and refocus.

EMCO take the psychological welfare of our employees seriously and is a proud support of MATES in Construction (MIC) – a charity focused on reducing the high rates of suicide in our industry.

Shoreline North Coogee – Step Up Affordable Housing Design Competition

EMCO Building proud to be part of the Shoreline North Coogee – Step Up Affordable Housing Design Competition.

We hope all these outstanding new ideas will spark greater opportunities for the building, design and development of medium density housing. As a forum for the industry to test innovative designs, products and construction methods, the competition will ultimately contribute to the development of a wider range of affordable and more liveable housing solutions in the Perth metropolitan area.
